A couple of 5.7 Reloading Questions

    Probably been posted before but:
Is new brass for the 5.7x28 available, if so where?
I got a 5.7x28 shell plate from Hornady and a set of dies but can't find a recipe to duplicate the factory load for the blue tip
Explain the coating and either how to protect it or replace it

    Thanks in advance

    Bill

Thanks for all the info but the info from the powder manufacturers: http://www.ramshot.com/powders/loadg...hot%20only.pdf

http://www.accuratepowder.com/data/5...ate%20only.pd has been pulled. I reload a bunch of both rifle and pistol ammo and while i might be old fashioned, I have found starting with one of the ammo manufactures recipes is never a bad idea, just looking for a place to start, but really thanks again

Check that forum link. Then while at it, check out **************.net. They have a reloading section that is chock full of info. I got most of my info there. Just remember that this round is a pain to reload and just a few .X grains off can result in a kaboom...

No. The only way to get virgin brass to to pull factory rounds.

Are you talking for the LnL AP or not? If so, did you get the powder funnel as well?

The laquer coating is required to aid in extraction. Do not remove it by tumbling. You can use simple green as a cleaning method, but do not leave it in the solution for too long because it will remove the coating as well. Rinse well and dry. Some poeple are trying to find a replacement for the coating but they are having various results with it. I understand that EA is working on a method.

You're welcome. BTW, heed the advice. This is a very tricky round and small powder changes can cause unexpected results.

The yellow indicated that there were cratered primers.

If you want to duplicate the factory round, it uses about 5.3 grains of powder, however, the powder is not True Blue. They use a proprietary powder.

As always: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

The velocities measured are measured with a Chrono at 7ft distance from the muzzle. The VELOCITY CALCULATED is a mathmatical formula only and are use to calculate the mathamaticl pressure gradient. The PRESSURE CALCULATED are a mathmatical formula only and that is why they are in RED. Do not exceed 50KPSI MAXIMUM PRESSURE.

IF YOU CHANGE A SINGLE COMPONENT, YOU MUST REDUCE THE STATED LOADS BY 10% AND REWORK THE LOADS TO FIND A NEW MAXIMUM.

Thanks for your valuable information. I am a very conservative re-loader and a much better re-loader that I am blogger, or what ever we are doing, as it took me a bit to understand the "thread" being moved, sorry. Yep I have a LNL AP loader and Hornady had a few #37 shell plates in stock for $110.00 that they custom made. I didn't get a funnel but will if one of mine won't work.
Like I said not great at computers but did find both the Accurate 3.5 edition and Ramshot 4.5 edition data and they both call out either a WIN WSR or WSP primer.
Once I amass a bit more brass I'll load some and let you know the results, I'm running these through a Five Seven pistol by the way
Thanks again for all your help
