What is the best concealment location and holster for it? If you have different locations and different holsters, for different times like winter/ summer. casual wear /dressed up. explain in recommendation. thanks![]()
It all depends on what scenario you're applying your question to. In the car, as opposed to walking down the street, or any physical limitations, like I can't take a knee so ankle rigs are out of the equation for me unless I'm seated in the vehicle.

I like the 3 O'clock position and working around to the small of the back. Right on the hip seems best to me as it the firearm is easily drawn from standing and is relatively easy from a seated position (for me anyway).
You'll have to try them out on your own to find the what you like best. I started out around the 5 o'clock position, and it was comfortable (same as on the hip), but it just didn't conceal as well as I'd like.
For deep concealment, I'd probably opt for a belly band or something similar (and with a small pistol-Kahr PM9 size). Ankle is fine if you're not going to be running at all (again, small firearm). Shoulder holster would be good with a coat that you aren't going to take off and for vehicle carry.

Real personal decision.
Part of it depends on how you spend most of your time.
Part depends on your body shape, how you dress, choice of firearm and holster.
Part depends on your training and preferences.
My preference is at about 10 to 11 o'clock depending on my clothing (I'm right handed). This position allows me to conceal even in a t-shirt and shorts with no print. It is also good to draw from a sitting position even with a seat belt on. My main reason for liking the position is that I can get to the firearm very quickly from a fight or cover up type of situation. I tried a few different positions and then attended a fighting pistol course. For me the position I chose is better in those up close and personal situations where every second counts. It also gives me quick access with my left hand in case the right is no longer available for any reason.
I find that my preference is not as popular as the 3 to 4 o'clock carry (would be the opposite if you want to run from your left hand). There are many good reasons for each position and you have to consider your own personal scenarios and weight them against your personal ability to function and be comfortable.
Get a good holster and training. Any position can be excellent with proper training and upkeep.

I carry about 3:30 in an Mtac holster. Very comfy. It sits just far enough forward so that it's not bothersome sitting.

You have to approach carry a concealed weapon as a system! I have carried a gun professionaly for 21 years and i know what works and what doesn't work.
If i am going to be in a car alot i will wear a shoulder holster or a cross draw for ease of draw while seated in a car. Note this is the only time i wear a shoulder holster.
I am a big guy and when i can i normally carry an OWB pancake Holster between 3 and 6 o clock. Ilike to move it towards 3 o clock when i have to bend over. But if i am walking i like it at 5 oclock because it conceals best with my build. I carry the open top Galco Combat Master, i think it is the best off the shelf holster for the money.
I am also a huge fan of the fanny pack. I have had a Black Hawk Tactical for a number of years and with my shirt untucked no one has ever burned me!
Mostly i carry Glocks 9mm and 45 acp. Some days i carry a S&W 340 SC j frame. I love this gun because it needs no holster, i just put in a pocket with no other items. As a cop i carried the S&W on a Galco Ankle glove, again the best ankle holster never came off. I wear it on the inside of my weak leg. And ankle holster is good for a car too. I wear my ankle holster when i wear my overalls and dress clothes.
On top of a holster you need a good firm belt, it is a must. I use Blackhawk Riggers/rescue belts.
All of my carry guns have at least 2 or 3 holsters for CCW! Spend the money don't get junk! I like kydex but leather has always won, its the best for CCW. I don't like retention on my CCW guns it defeats the purpose of CCW.
And most important is practice, practice as you carry seen many a good UC cop get a gun caught up in a shirt!
good luck
