Flying took a beating on my gun cases

So over Christmas vacation my wife and I took a trip to Texas back to where I was stationed at Hood and the flight took a BRUTAL toll on my cases. I took my Scar 17 for hog hunting and thought that my $50 hard case would be sufficient. When I picked it up it was beat to hell and water had soaked the inside of the case. I picked up a Pelican 1750 case the very next day and left the battered case at my in-laws. The Pelican cases had always been indestructible for the M24's in the military, so I had complete confidence. When I picked up the Pelican case on the return flight home, one of the outside latches was cracked so only 3 of 4 latches work now....however it did keep my scar safe which is the important thing. I plan on calling Pelican tomorrow. I hope they will replace the latch. Anyone dealt with Pelican customer service before?

Moral of the story....DO NOT FLY WITH CHEAP CASES. I learned my lesson

At least your rifle made it back safe and sound, It could have also grown legs and walked off. But now you know why they call them "Baggage Apes"

Pelican, should be under warranty, so long as a child under 5 did not do the damage.

At least that's what their warranty used to be.

    Seriously.

Pelican made it right. They sent me a new latch free of charge so all is good.

Nice to know...been thinking about investing in a pelican case. We use them on the boat and they seem to hold up well.

I have had many Pelican cases for guns and tools and their Lifetime Warranty claim is just that. They have always replaced any parts and complete cases, if necessary at no charge. In this case, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR !!!
