I want to buy a rifle in 7.62 x 39 that i can use to hunt... The only other rifle I have is an SK in 7.62 so thats why i want it in this caliber.. The options that i've found that i like are the CZ 527 or a used Remington 799. anyone know of some other rifles I should be looking at? the SK cant be as accurate these bolt-actions, right? and is it even feasible to effectively hunt larger game like deer or hogs with this caliber? thanks

7.62x39 is fine for med size game such as deer but it's limed to 150-200yds IMO. Why are you limiting your self to this round?

Use Hornady ammo as they load their SST bullets for the 7.62x39 cartridge.
im only temporarily limiting myself to this round bc im relatively poor right now(just outta colllege, mad student loans and various other bills) and 7.62 is super cheap but from what ive read effective under 400 yrds.. Also im just learning how to shoot so the 200yd or less range FullAssault mentioned is more realistic for me at this point to be on target. this winter was the first time ive ever even fired a gun so i wanna use cheap ammo during this learning curve...
The FN TSR XP is or was available in 7.62x39 and there is the Ruger M77 Hawkeye

7.62x39 is cheap for blasting away but when you get into hunting loads you going to be paying 308 prices anyways. You already have a SKS for plinking and for hunting out to 200yds. IMO a 308 bolt gun will serve you better. 308 is not that much more $ and for the performance you will be gaining you will be more satisfied. This it just my opinion and in the end you should buy whatever truly want!
