    Question Let's talk autos...

...knives that is. Today I ordered a Benchmade (2750SBK) Adamas Auto, Black with Serrated Edge. Why? Well, one, it's legal in Florida if you possess a CWL and I do. Two, every Adamas sold sees a portion of the proceeds benefit Army Rangers, I was one. And three, I have owned a non-auto version of the same knife for years, it is my EDC edged weapon and I have yet to find any knife that compares for money spent.

Questions are, have I done wrong, could I have done better and why?

I as well have the manual Adamas. It is one hell of a knife for the money. Built like a tank. I bought a Strider also which was 3 times the price, but it's not 3 times the knife. I haven't had a chance handle the auto, but it certainly looks interesting. I wasn't aware of the program of some profits going to Rangers. That's good to know. I look forward to hearing your experience with it. I have the Benchmade Rukus in both the manual opener and auto version and like them a lot.

AFAIK a portion of each Adamas purchase still goes to the Three Rangers and the Navy SEAL Foundation both good causes. Yes Sir, the Adamas is built like a tank and the blade holds an edge extremely well even under heavy abuse. If you can get your hands on one, do!

Sean, if you haven't seen this yet, it's pretty interesting. There is this guy from Eastern Europe that does destructive knife testing. Some of his videos are subtitled, but unfortunately this one is not, however you can get a good idea of the knife's capabilities. He takes them apart afterwards and shows how it held up. He puts them through far more than any rational human would under even the most extreme conditions, but it does demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of the Adamas.

One thing I would like to see is a model with an non-coated blade. Even though it is D2 and could rust, I maintain my blades pretty consistently and don't need one that would get me through 6 months in the jungle.

    Hey Heavy,

Thanks for the vid, it's a bit long but I will get it after I finish getting a handle on they yard again. Matthew shook up and down more crap than I was aware.
