Beretta ARX100 Priced lower then the SCAR

With it's polymer parts, short-stroke gas piston, folding stock, and reciprocating bolt handle it is a knockoff of the FN SCAR 100%...can't blame them really for wanting to grab their market share for a lower price. Reminds me of the 1911 pistol and every other pistol that has come after that mimics it. While there are some great options in the marketplace (HK, Glock, M&P, XD, etc) they are in my opinion still knockoffs of the original Browning designed 1911. The greatest form of flattery is imitation!

With this being said, I am a Beretta fan when it comes to shotguns (my A400 Xtrema), but not rifles or pistols. Because of the military I've shot the M9 quite a few times and each time I am less impressed.

I think I held one of these the other night. It was a beretta that looked just like it. Guy at the gun counter handed it to me to look at. I didn't like it. It didn't feel right.

I'm not ready to dismiss the ARX 100 yet, but nothing in the review or the Beretta video really draws me to it. Like others have said, it is rather ugly. While that is not only subjective but not a great measure of a firearm, aesthetics are pretty important for first impressions. Someone else compared its profile to a pregnant guppy, and that may not be too far off.

I can get over the awkward look if it offers something new and exciting. Otherwise, I'm happy with my SCAR 16 and AR.

I was thinking the same thing and I own 2 SCARS. Personally, I'm not "against" the ARX one bit. I hope it gets picked up by some military units. And over it's service life gets upgraded and changed as the needs arise. Same for the SCAR. Only then, over the long-haul, will rifles like the SCAR and ARX even really have a chance to move to the next level. They have to earn it over time.

I believe an SBR (10.5) is available, I could be mistaken though. I have looked at so much new stuff I can't remember if I saw in a video or not.

That thing is like an ugly baby. It screams for attention and nobody wants to pick it up. When you do pick it up you quickly put it back down in disgust...

Sounds like you've already made up your mind about the ARX100 based on how it looks, not how well it functions, how insightful of you.

Ironically, I probably would've described the SCAR the same you did the ARX, in fact I think the ARX160(or 100) looks way better than the SCAR and looks to be even more versatile.

I wouldn't write the gun off completely solely based on looks.

Looks aside, I'm curious how it holds up. If it runs as smooth as a belly full of Taco Bell...count me in. If it stinks like a belly full...well, I'll pass.

Youre right. However, I dont think the scar is ugly. I like the way it looks. There is something about that ARX though that just doesnt look right. I am a guy who bought an Fs2K so no I dont write off rifles for their looks. However, I just thought I would comment on how hideous I think the thing is. Thats all. I know if I wanted another 5.56 it would be the 16 because I have so much faith in my 17 already. I didnt see the price point though whats this thing going to sell for?

Supposed to a 300 black barrel for the ARX.

I have some strong interest in the ARX. If the only real complaint turns out to be it is ugly then I will be fine. I can care less if my gun can win a beauty pageant. Time will tell if I actually buy one though. Not like I need another assault rifle.

Looks like a mix of SCAR and XM8.
