Your tag line quote is wrong, the correct quote is "God created man, but Sam Colt made them equal."

For any person to carry (or potentially carry) a weapon near the president a special clearance is needed in conjunction with a top secret.

I am an American Soldier and I am awake. I have nothing to regret from my tours of both Iraq and Afghanistan. I have personally seen the good work done by the US in both Iraq and Afghanistan with my own eyes. I have seen the hospitals that were opened, the school supplies given out, the clothing and food passed to the poor. I have watched as Afghan troops hand out soccer balls and radios, rice and beans, shoes, jackets, and blankets. I have seen American Medics giving immunizations to Iraqi children.

What I do regret is that some of my fellow service members are blind to the reality of the good that the US does. Is it perfect, no. Running to Canada makes you a deserter. I have no respect for people like that.

    Agreed.

I wasn't deployed when it happened, but we had to do much the same when W. came to Bragg for a Division review back in '08. The SS set up a decent sized cordon around the field and had us all go through metal detectors. Note, we were all carrying M4 carbines with a bayonet, but we still had to go through the metal detectors to make sure nobody was bringing anything else. We also had to remove the bolts from our weapons, as well as the spring from the magazine. Even still, SS snipers were supposedly covering us from a repelling tower across the street from Pike Field. Its the Secret Service's job to protect the President, so they do err on the side of caution. Can't blame them for that. However, if they can treat me like a potential enemy, why shouldn't I see Obama and Co as a potential enemy for trying to destroy the things that make this country great.
Agree. I was in the reviewing side of AA Week (Old Vets) when Bush was there in 08. Everyone had to go through metal detectors. BTW the parade & review took longer than usual because Pres. Bush walked the whole line (I Know, I hated extended reviews too. But remember we had to do them in Class A's). Later he said that he felt riding across the Pike's Field on the reviewing vehicle would be disrespectful of the Paratroopers. Later at the Memorial Ceremony at the 82nd Abn Div Museum he was again extremely gracious to everyone in attendance. BTW I don't think the troops deployed in a Combat Zone in Iraq lost their weapons when Bush went there for Thankgiving.

I am glad you folks recognize that whether its bush or bama, they all work for the same evil powers that control GIs and veterans.

Wag said it best. Anyone who regrets what they have done while in our military NEVER should of enlisted. It is what it is and those with grand delusions of free college and a 5k enlistment bonus should not apply....fringe benefits cost you and the taxpayer. Veterans are pissed that the oath we take means shit when we transition back to civilian life.
