Police deaths give leverage to toughen gun laws

If history repeats itself, the fatal shootings of four Oakland police officers on Saturday afternoon will become the next benchmark in the national debate on a federal law to ban assault weapons.

If there is a grain of hope to be gathered from a loss so tragic, it's that last weekend's horrific events will help end the debate on an unresolved policy issue that has resulted in thousands of deaths and helped sustain veritable demilitarized zones in some of our nation's largest cities.

FIVE BUCKS say this was an ILLEGAL full-auto weapon that came through the criminal black market from China or through Mexico.

I say the source of the weapon is a porus border with Mexico. YOU AND I could never own this particular weapon legally, so changing laws has NO IMPACT.

The problem isn't the 2nd amendment and my right to bear arms, including the right to own a legal civilian version semi-auto AK47. The problem involves CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.

If I ever saw some degenerate firing at the cops you can count on me helping take the criminal down. Of course I probably would pee my pants first and have to get my bearings.... but the desire is there.

Shooting at the cops should carry a sentence of "life in prison" at a minimum.

    1) The shooter was on parole.

    2) High capacity firearms are all ready illegal in Commiefornia.

    3) The shooter hated cops

It doesn't matter the... The agenda is being pushed by the Dems and the media to reinstitute the AWB.

"There is a big difference between taking someone's handgun away and taking away an AK-47," Perata said. "They didn't want to ban .50-caliber guns either, but these are weapons of war with no application in civilian life."

We are in a war. A war to protect the Constitution. These guns are already illegal in California I thought.
