Well, my Sunday morning range trip got rained out, so I decided to open up the Leupold RX-1000 TBR (True Ballistic Range) Compact Digital Laser Rangefinder I bought on sale awhile back. Here's the box it comes in:
Back panel:
Side panels:
Top panel:
What's in the box? Product reg paperwork and owner's manual (of course):
CR-2 Lithium battery:
Really nice (typical Leupold quality) ballistic nylon carrying case, with 45 degree cant belt loop, and (really slick setup) silent magnetic closure:
The device:
The business end from the target's POV:
User interface for 6x monocular:
Nylon neck lanyard:
Unit ready to go into the field (or to the range, one day, soon, I hope):
I'll write up a review once I have a chance to read the owner's manual and figure out how to use this thing (seems pretty intuitive, but I still bother with reading the instructions because I always learn something I did not know before). Initial impression is the device is very well made, nice rubber armor, very high quality all the way, and fits in your hand great. More to follow, once I finish my homework.... Any questions, feel free, I will try and answer them. The manual is very detailed, 32 pages....

Let me know what the furthest range you can get it out to. I had a Bushnell with a reflective range of 1500 yards (tested off a car at just over 800 no problem) and the 'soft' target acquisition was supposedly 600 yards, but I'll be damned if I could get a reading off of a tree at that range. Houses at 750 would give readings if I was square with them.

No sense in keeping the rangefinder when you can't seem to get to the range to use it.

07/02 SOT Manufacturer, Suppressors, NFA Firearms, and everything else COOL!
He needs the range finder to find the range, silly.
It was sunny yesterday. Check the weather report. Shoot on sunny, change oil on chance of rain.
Atlanta precipitation today = o.oo
High 67
Cloudy, no wind.
Hell it's just water, it's not like you'll melt.![]()
Neither Rain, Nor Sleet, Nor Snow, Nor gloom of night would stop me from getting out to shoot.![]()

Aw, c'mon, you guys!![]()
You know how I hate soggy targets.![]()
And the mud is all slippery and yucky and stuff.
Plus it is hard to keep my hot chocolate warm when "The Simpsons" Thermos gets wet.
And my pistachios get all mushy.
And I get water spots on my barrel.
Plus my Cowboys were playing the Redskins, Smoke had a chance to win the NASCAR championship, and...my wife brought me breakfast in bed, and I fell back asleep...and did I mention it was raining?
