German DAG .308 hard on barrels?

I love shooting this out of my SCAR 17 but just heard that it speeds up barrel wear due to the nickel plating. Any truth to this? I hope not.

The only place I've ever heard that little bit of info was here. It might be true, but generally speaking, DAG is considered some of the best surplus out there. I've never had a problem with it, and doubt I will. By the time I'm worried about my barrel being worn out, FN should probably have released replacement barrels.

Cupro-Nickel fouling? - Page 1 - AR15.COM, This is a long thread-topic.Additional info related to the 30-06 development and field use.http://www.odcmp.org/1101/can.pdf The bullet was too be "green" as in safer for the environment and reduce lead vapor, additionally accuracy was a benefit of the new jacket.Note: this information was obtained through derived research of other people and sources are cited in the thread. I found it through related cited sources.

Yes there is, and anybody who says differently is regurgitating baseless hearsay.

The .mil choose it due to price point - millions of rounds for training add up to more $$ than funds to replace barrels.
