    22 Magnum Velocity Test

Here are some .22 Magnum/WMR velocity tests from a 6" AMT AutoMag II. Note the velocity's of the 50gr and 40gr loadings are no where near 5.7x28mm loads, even with a 1.2" longer barrel.

    40gr Winchester

I think most people who site the similarities in velocity between the .22mag and 5.7 dont' realize that the .22 mag is only that fast out of a 22" barrel. You can't compare a rifle to a handgun, no matter what the caliber is.

some even go as far as to say a SBR in .223 is WAAAAY better than the 5.7, when in reality, the shorter barrel vents so much explosive energy away from the bullet that the round winds up going the same speed as the 5.7 out of a shorter barrel gun. It has the added disadvantage of the turbulence behind the bullet as it leaves the barrel which completely murders its accuracy.
