CCI is better ammo but obviously more expensive. Rem is just plain crap and Federal is the same price and twice as consistant. I farted around for awhile shooting .22 at 325m and the Federal was pretty good for the money. With Rem I get a "poofter" round about every 10.......you know what I mean....crack crack crack crack ffuutt.

I had to revive this old thread.

For years I have been stocking up on CCI Stingers. I always considered the Stingers as the epitome of .22LR rounds. Lately, I have been tempted to go the CCI Maxi-Mag route in favor of their heavier grain bullet.

    Stingers: 50 rounds = $6.48, 32gr, higher velocity.

    Maxi-Mags: 100 rounds = $10.47, 40gr, lower velocity.

Weigh in on this... What say ye?

    Stingers or Maxi-Mags????

    Thanks! Any input is appreciated!

I use the Federal bulk from Walmart-<$20.00 for 550 rounds. Only 1 squib in over 2000 rounds in my HK MP5 SD. Accurate and relative clean. CCI Mini Mags more costly and Aguila was extremely dirty.

As far as my bulk is concerned, I use Federal also.

And I'll throw in another vote for Federal bulk. Works well in 4 very different .22's. Sometimes on sale at Gander Mtn (none near me) for $16.95.
    Ooops!

    CCI Standard Velocity

At 1070fps it is subsonic in my environment and cheaper than the CCI Subsonics (1050fps).
Very clean! (I have over 1000 rds through a Sig Mosquito and Silencerco Sparrow and neither has been cleaned. The Sig still functions flawlessly and there is hardly any buildup on the Sparrow)

    MG,

Are those CCI Standard Velocity's LRN? If so, I have a brick of those that I've yet to fire. The lead nose put me off of them, as I didn't want to scrub a ton of lead fouling out of my rifling.

Maybe I'd fire them, after I seasoned my barrel/rifling with something along the lines of Froglube. .

They are LRN, but I am astounded at how little buildup there is every time I shoot them.
