I just purchased a Silencerco 45 Osprey for it, so I will still have to wait months for the paperwork, but when I get it I will let you know.

From what I have gathered your two best choices are the Osprey or the AAC Ti-Rant. These are the only two 45 cans that are quiet enough to be hearing safe dry. They even outperform the Knights' armament silencer that so impressed USSOCOM when they tested the HK MK23. (they told HK to stuff their suppressor and chose the Knights because it was so superior to everything at the time).

For what it's worth: The Ti-Rant and the Osprey have the same MSRP of $850. AAC originally wanted to charge $1200, but had to cut the prices because of the competition from Silencerco. I chose the Osprey because AAC can't seem to get it together enough to get the Ti-Rant to market (multiple delays) and I was able to get the Osprey for $699, and from what I have read, the Osprey is equal or better performing. Also, the eccentric shape gives you a better sight picture over the top, while the adjustable cam lets it easily adapt to different guns.

Here are some pictures from Silencerco of a FDE version of the Osprey (right now, however it only comes in black) on the FNP 45. They had a caption of something like "a match made in heaven"

UPDATE: At the time I posted this, it was not available in FDE, but it is now on their website for $50 more than the black $899.

Looks cool, but it also looks huge. How much does it weigh?

A little longer than the gun. I think the shape makes it look larger than it really is. I need to move to a suppressor friendly state, then mod my Safariland holster (i.e. cut the bottom off) and it would work great. The colors are a close match to the gun. I'm rambling aren't I?

Good topic, I was just getting ready to make one of these myself.

I have only been looking at the silencerco .45 osprey. I have a black fnp .45 tactical and want to get a silencer asap.

    My requirements are:
    1. Must come apart, to be cleaned
    2. has to be black

It seems like the osprey is the Creme de la creme of .45 silencers.

James, what is your opinion for the best .45 suppressor?

s4mur41h4x0r, on the 45 Osprey, you can only take apart that front section with the serial number on it (the blast baffle). The rest of the can you won't be able to take apart, but they say you don't really need to take that section apart either.

If it were legal here, I would get one of those (FDE one to go with a FDE Tactical ). Maybe I'll move someday...

where did you get the osprey for $699?

Is that the best deal people have found elsewhere as well?

    Thanks
