Years ago it did not matter, but recently they want it unobstructed.

I had my AR done on the lower inside top of trigger guard area next to the trigger slot.

Tilt the lower on it's side and it's visible, otherwise no one sees it.

I engrave my NFA items on the registered part. The lower on AR15 SBR, the receiver on the PS90 SBR, and the right half of the SBR Scorpion receiver. Makes it easier especially with the AR15 SBR lower that can be configured as an AR15 SBR, 9mm SBR, 22 cal SBR, or 300BO SBR.
Totally makes sense on an AR. Who wants to engrave a new barrel every time they change upper/caliber?

One and done on the lower.

The serial part I know, just thought it was odd to have maker info on the barrel.

I don't think it's practical on an AR but for an SBR Scar??

I did this as well. Didn't want to place on the side.

That's my dilemma with the Scar.

I think PMM has a picture with the engraving on the top pic rail of the Scar, I kind of like this idea.
