I don't think it's a magazine issue. It's more of a tolerance stacking issue. Pmags by design run at the upper end of magwell size. It's fairly obvious that the SCAR has a magwell on the low end of AR spec.

The Emag may solve this problem. According to Magpul, it's designed to work with guns with smallish magwells like the SCAR seems to have.

D&H and Okay (or whatever they're calling themselves now) are good for GI mags. Still, they're essentially a consumable resource. A more durable mag body would be a good thing if we get hit with another ban.
It is a magazine issue. The SCAR magazine well is set to NATO STANAG dimensions. All the variables (problems) are stemming from the polymer magazines.

You state tolerance stacking. What is the tolerance on the polymer magazines? I know the tolerance on the NATO STANAG magazine well dimensions. I don't know the polymer magazines. So please enlighten me.

    Thanks.

ps I like the "smallish" term Magpul used and shifted the issue from the magazine to the SCAR.

Pmags are sized to the maximum that will fit in a Colt well. AR mags are smallish to start with and Pmags are thicker by design than alloy GI mags. Also, they have a (more or less) continuous curve, instead of the straight to curve geometry of the GI mag. This is supposed to promote better feeding.

Regardless, if you're using Pmags it looks like you'll be stripping mags. No big deal, but, eh, it is nice to seem them jump free on my XCR. My M3 5-09 Pmags showed up today: no joy. They actually do move when you hit the button, but don't drop free. Oddly, the 20s do, but the spine on them is noticeably smoother than the 30s. There's definately some sandpaper in the near future for a few of these mags. Emags still a couple of weeks out. They're the last great plastic hope.

    Global internet search.

The only place I could find taking orders was (of all places) USCav. They have a 7/27 to 8/1 ship date. So, we wait and see.

DSG arms has Emags on their site, but no purchasing info. Might be worth keeping an eye on it just to see what develops over the next month or so.

On the flimsy alloy side of things, Bravo Company has a pretty smokin' deal on D&H mags with the Magpul follower: $9.99 each. Not bad at all.

I talked to a guy from MAgpul a couple of weeks ago, and he had poor hopes they would be done by the end of summer. If they were, the question was if they were going to ship to Europe first or to local US customers...

    Very possibly.

I just put in an order for a couple of mags and we'll see what shows up and when. I'm not holding my breath on anything, but I am curious how the Emag will work out.

MSAR AR Magazines work in the SCAR !!!

    .

    :P

The MSAR magazines made for their AUG STYLE E4 modedl { STANAG MAGS } are super tough, the same color as the SCAR, see through or black, they do drop free, they have a cartridge counter and cost a WHOPPING $11.00 !!!

Try them, - I SWEAR YOU WILL LIKE THEM ! I DO !!!

    They are available at " RATWORXS.COM. "

I bought 5 of the SCAR colored Brownell magazines.
    The followers tilted.

I had 5 MAGPUL non tilt followers left over so I installed them. It made a world of difference.
