I've got a Dead Air brake for my 17S coming in, using it with a KBA shoulder ring - will verify with a bore guide etc.
The KBA ring has a max torque of 25ft/lbs so not terribly high. I saw a post a while back saying that FN does something like putting the upper in a vice with the barrel installed and then torquing their muzzle devices on.
Is that accurate? I know the SCAR uppers are tough but it seems like that would be hard on the screws - unless the barrel lugs are bracing it. Anyway, I'm assuming I should remove the barrel and vice it, but didn't know what methods you guys have used to install your brakes.
Thanks for any advice.
