Converting a 16s to a SBR 10 inch barrel...

I'm interested in converting my SCAR to more of a CQB setup. I am going to apply for my tax stamp so that I can do this all legally, however, I haven't found anywhere selling 10" barrels. I know that FNH makes them for the military, will they sell to civilians?

I would like to avoid going the "cutting" route if at all possible.

FN will not sell 10" bbls to civi's and I don't think the mil bbls would work on civi SCAR's anyway. The only option at this point in time is to cut it, or have a custom one made. CMMG might eventually make a 10" bbl for the SCAR like they did with the PS90, but that's not a certainty, and would probably be at least a couple of years if they do end up making them.

I'm not sure about that.

I know Class III dealer's have full-auto demo SCAR's, so they might sell for demo purposes. Other than that, I doubt it.

Now being that cutting is the only option, is there anyone available that offers this job and does a good job at it? I would want it threaded for a break/suppressor as well.

Hi-Desert Dog does it. They have a pretty good reputation for cutting barrels.

Just got an email from hi-desert and they assured me that their cutting techniques are top-notch... however they are also tooling up to start making SCAR barrels...

The mil barrels are identical to the civilian units in every way. They do interchange, if you could convince FNH to sell you one.

I suggest reading the, "WTK SCAR gas port size", thread. You'll see that cutting the factory barrel may not be the answer.
