    Grip-pod review?

I have seen and read a few reviews on this product. It "seems" gimmicky, but the reviews have actually been pretty positive. For those with this, especially on the SCAR, what is your opinion? It seems like it would save weight and bulk over having separate bipod and verticle grip components, but perhaps at the compromise of function.

Opinions? I am going for more of a CQB setup with the occaisional bipod use at the range. I suppposed a quick detach picatinny bipod would also work well, but this is an appealing option.

    Thanks!

    -BM

I've got one on and I love it. Saves weight as it is a bipod and VFG all in one. Pretty sturdy too and comfortable. Looks kind of dorky but definitely works.

Nice, how is the height? That was about the only complaint that I have read, was that it is too tall.

A bit too tall but you have to remember that it needs to clear the magazine as well and still give you room to maneuver.

For those of you who would use this for work... keep in mind that you will need that extra height when wearing body armor. carrier+sapi+mag pouches = you alot higher than when you tried it out without your kit. For bigger guys you may find you need additional height. just a thought so we don't all run out and throw down only to find it doesn't fit like we thought... as i have done many a time!
They are pretty good though considering you get the best of both worlds, but they are not dedicated bi-pods. some put theirs on 249s, worked ok but i have also seen them break. they also have new ones which use metal to strengthen their structural integrity, havent used one yet, but this may solve the heavy use/breakage issue.

Yeah, I was going to the the "military" model rather than the "le" model, which does have the metal inserts.

From what I know, they do make a third model, specifically for the SAW, and it is heavier duty.

I love it, especially on my 16 as there is not a lot of real estate on the SCAR for both a VFG & bipod
I just wished I purchased it in tan and not black

Love mine - bought it in black to go on the black SCAR 16S. I own three altogether, the Military version with the steel reinforced legs goes on my heavy SOCOM II, and the LE versions are for the SCAR, and a SIG 556, although the third one is still in the wrapper & bag while I decide if its going on the anxiously-awaited 17S a/k/a :P SCARZILLA!!!
