The response I received today: Jarrod
Sorry to disappoint but we are not making a short barrel
or any barrel for the FN SCAR.
Best regards

But we can always hope that one day they will
No kidding. It's there is money to be made, someone will offer them. My suggestion is buy as many SCAR's as you can. It's the only way.
Getting the Gas Block is the main obstacle... Although FN released the SCAR 16s part(s) availibility and price list - notice the GB is not available for purchase.
But the trunnions are - WTF?!?!![]()
I imagine that they expect the "trunnions" or barrel "extension" to go bad, stripped threads from removing and installing the barrel. Someone is not going to use a torque wrench.Originally Posted by j-rod

The gas block has no need to be messed with, so isn't really going to go bad under normal use. Also they set the gas delivery, at the factory, to the barrel.

I don't think it's a matter of "going bad" - I think it's more about keeping them out of circulation so the pvt sector can't build new/extra barrel assemblies... Which is most likely a liability justification/issue (at least that's what their lawyers would likely advise)![]()
