    stock hinge pin help

I live in california and therefore I have to block the folding stock. So i bought this:

RifleGear - Stock Block, FN SCAR

the problem I am having is that the instructions are not so clear for step 1. How to I drive out the stock hinge pin? I also do not have a punch set.

A pin punch will work. Drive it out from the top, down.

i tried a little punch that is made for watches.. I had no luck.

How hard should I hit it? ALso is there a specific punch because the hole on the top is more of a thin oval shape.

It's pressed in place so it's going to need a bit more than a punch designed for use on watches.

    A dead-blow hammer helps also.

If you want the quick and dirty method to pinning the stock...

    1. Disassemble the stock latch
    2. Get a screw and corresponding nut
(you'll have to do some measuring to get the correct length for the screw)
    3. Drill a hole through the stock release button, just large enough for the screw to fit
    4. Insert the nut into the inside of the button and begin threading the screw in, but not all the way
(the nut should not be able to spin freely inside, if it does, block it with something)
    5. Re-assemble stock latch assembly
    6. Tighten screw all the way down

Down the line, if I need a brand new stock release button, I can always just buy a replacement.

Return the block if you can. I know it's only $6, but an empty .45 casing would achieve the same thing. That's what we used to pin our HK UMP stocks.

im still having the problem with unpinning the hinge pin. i got a pin punch and a hammer. is there a certain way to go about this? i feel a set of edges going down on part of the inside. I try to angle the pin to get leverage off it, but I have no luck.

Don't peck at it. Put a good punch on it, along with a dead-blow hammer, and hit it like it just raped your GF.

    It will come out then.
