Light in the night or dread in the dark

I installed a Streamlight TLR-1 on the bottom rail, in front of a vertical foregrip, on both of my SCARs (yeah, I bought two - just had to get another one). I added a red pop-open filter to the Streamlight so that you can see well enough to discreetly move around at night and still have "white light discipline" - then, if needed, you can pop open the filter and use the white light. I also have blue and infrared filters that can be switched into place. Lightweight but powerful, extremely well made units.

I have white lights on all my guns that have rails for them in place (plus lasers on all pistols, and one rifle). Think about it - ~ half the time it is going to be dark (and this is when bad things happen the most, according to FBI crime statistics, not to mention common sense), and even in the daytime, you can encounter areas of low to no light. A light with a laser is the best solution to the problems sundown brings with it.

Interesting [reported] tidbit from the use of lights over in Iraq and Afghanistan - it seems that out in the desert, an occasional white light popping off in the distance is not too uncommon at night (like a door opening up, or someone using a flashlight/lantern to see), and often goes unnoticed by the local desert and mountain dwelling denizens. However, if the light is red, blue or green, that indicated to the bad guys looking for targets that an American might be behind it...something to consider in a wartime or other active shooting situation.

Some people don't like them for this reason (or because of other "traditional" training). However, with proper training from people who know how and when these lights should be used, I will never be without one if I can possibly avoid it. It is another very useful tool that could save your life, and it just comes in handy whenever you need light to see....

I have the SIGLite on one of my 556s - it is an amazingly powerful light, and the strobe function is totally disorienting to anyone looking into it. It would probably fit right onto the SCAR, but since it says SIG right on the side, it may look a little out of place to those of you who are brand purists...but if you really need to use it, who cares, right? If I had to have only one weaponlight, it would be this one - that thing at night can light up the whole street sidewalk to sidewalk, and it has a laser attached to it, plus the strobe function. It is big, and heavier than the rest, but it rules if you need to throw a bright & wide beam of light out in front of you, with a laser dot in it...you can also use it as a separate light if you want to. On the SIG, it matches the proprietary hand grip for the gun, so it looks right and it really works perfect (once you master the controls), very robust design. It does add some weight; but all things considered, well worth it in my book....

I would also love a Sig Stoplite for my 556.

Yes, and it matches the SCAR very well. Check with Calvin at Brighflashlights.

    scar lighting

I have mounted a G2 with a vtac mount on top rail just behind the front sight. This works well for me because it is totally out of sight picture. Also ordered a larue lt 606 mount to do the same but it is metal construction. when trying different mounting locations the top rail worked for me and i like the tangodown scar rails on 9,3 and 6 o'clock rails.

I tried to get 2 Sig 700 lumen, with strobe and laser for my SCAR and Ruger SR556. They quoted a 12 to 20 week wait.

I am not that patient but the idea was good

I also like the TLR-1. I started with it on the bottom rail, but found that the left side rail is perfect because I can control it easily with my left thumb.

I bought my tan M600c kit from this website. Also mount mine at 9o'clock, but replaced the mount with a danger close scout light mount and wil be mounting the light from the top rail behind the front sight at 1 o'clock with the surefire tape switch at 12o'clock.
