    Scar light?

    Thoughts about lighting?

I usually like the push button style light, but the forearm is soo short...

    Thoughts?

Have anyone of you used lights yet?

I use compact fluorescents here. I find them acceptable, but I do miss my 100 watt incandescents. Just not the same lighting...

Funny thing- I guess I am a real old timer, but during my service we even smoked in the sleeve, so nobody could see a cigarette light. And we would have a blast if the opposing side had a 50 lumen lights attached to the barrels of their guns. Speaking of turkey shoot…
So far no light for my SCAR, because I am not going to jack deer or intimidate bunch of dope heads in the crack house during the drug raid. There is no better way to announce to the world your exact location during periods of low light than turning on a white light. It gives the enemy an exact fix on your whereabouts and can turn your white light into a bullet sponge.
No offense, but what is a practical use for the flashlight on your SCAR? I am willing to learn and might change my mind too...

I am taking a class, and there will be extensive use of the low light shoot house.

That is why I need a light...

I would suggest a Surefire G2/G3 LED with a Blue lens filter.
It will be bright enough to see what you need but the Blue filter will retain your night vision and track blood if you shoot someone.
Blue light will make blood show up like a neon sign so to speak.

Something like the Fenix TK11 or something about that size in a clamp w/pressure switch would work well.

I'd take tq's advice on the blue filter too.

As for me for home defense, I would use a flashlight only to identify an intruder and threat: i.e. have the light off until I see someone, then light them up (which would stun/blind them, hopefully long enough for me to possitively ID a threat and neutralize it).

Yeah, my TK11 got here last weekend, now I am trying to figure out a mount.

I was trying to stay away from the tape switches, but the forearms is soo short on the Scar...

Are you planning on mounting it on one of the side rails or the bottom rail?

I think I'd go side rail and run a vertical foregrip.

    How about this:

They even show them on pistols, so I doubt the forearm of the SCAR would be too short.

I mounted an Insight M6X light/laser on the bottom rail with a tape switch going to a TD VFG.The standard TD Mk46 VFG has to be seriously modified to take the Insight long gun tape switch but I'm told by Insight that there are other plugin switches that will work (ITI #CFL 310 or Streamlight #69135) or that TD has a different VFG (Model VFG-ITI) but I couldn't find it on their website.

As far as having a light, IMHO a light is anecessary and the first accessory fitted to any HD or social interaction weapon.
