12 Guage Home Defense Ammo

What do you guys use for home defense shells? With a 12ga. I'm sure anything will "work", but I was just wondering if anyone had an ideal. Thanks.

Something that will kill the person you shoot at.

absolutely NOTHING that will potentially injure, maim, disfigure and leave them alive.....

I think I would have a hard time feeling comfortable using slugs in a residential neighborhood. I don't intend on missing, but can these over-penetrate?

Its a possibility yes, as with any bullet, if your that worried, don't use a shotgun for home defense, get a pistol.

Whatever it is, make sure you are committed to killing who ever enters the premises, and DO NOT shoot or use ammo that is intended to superficially wound, injure, maim, or disfigure because that will put you in prison. Dead men/women dont tell stories. Dead men can't sue you either.

My uncle feels #2 birdshot inside a home would be fine due to not being very far (no more than about 10 yards in his house). My parents house, I'd agree with jhs as there is a possibility for shooting further and the walls are wood paneling (a bit thicker)

Bird shot (4 rounds) followed by 4 of 00 buck with two slugs in the side saddle..
Pistol and Rifle ammo WILL overpenetrate in a home, if you live in a home with others in it or
sub division you need to be aware of your background.

Not that anyone on here would ever miss a shot!
