So, what do you think Helen was getting at and how does this apply to personal protection?

Honestly I don't know. Everything she writes is contradicted in the same statement. Kinda like a politician or a woman. I call this speaking loud and saying nothing.

That an area (be it a building, remote piece of land or your own personal space around you) thought to be secure isn't really as secure as you or others perceive it to be. And situational awareness, along with preparedness is key because everyone will die in the end, whether living holed up in bunker or walking through the roughest ghettos in the world.

Ultimately the only certainty in the uncertainty that is life, is death.

If I was to boil it down as it would apply to personal protection:

1. Study, Identify and Mittigate the known threat
2. Prepare and anticipate for the unknown threat

New to forum, saw this thread, then noted the last posting date...I'm 3 years late! Had to make a comment anyway.

I don't anything for Helen Keller and her views: she was a socialist and was one of the founders of the ACLU. Her philosophical views are diametrically opposed to mine.
