I am partial to Jujitsu/tradtional Japanese and Sambo/Sombo Russian Martial arts. I like good grappeling along with effective strikes.

the one that you walk away as the victor ad can talk about it
How about "punch them in the face till they fall down then kick them in the face"? Worked for me once or twice. If he's alot bigger and you cant reach his face then use the advanced technique "go to the truck and get the crowbar/trailer hitch/rottweiler"

But you never know which fighting style you will actually use until the moment comes, so train with whatever you want, I have done 5 different martial arts and use a little of each.

If you want to be effective in a real hand to hand combat situation, there is no real single do-all art. You need to be versed in a couple different disciplines, and the ones that work in the real world are boxing, BJJ, Muay Thai, wrestling, and judo. Of course there are some traditional martial arts that also have some effective techniques in their systems (karate, sambo, krav maga, etc), but that list is what most people who fight for a living train (MMA), and it is what most military combat programs are built on, such as MCMAP.
Wow can't believe I missed this one!![]()

I'm not tacti-cool I'm just tacky.
I would have to say that something like krav magra wold be your best bet. and that whole thing about 90% of fights are on the ground isn't true. i've been in my far share of scuffles and each one has ended in a matter of seconds. all you need to do is bring your knee to their crotch and a elbow to there temple from there you can do everything you ever want to them. but your best bet is to walk away at that point. when his buddy's are near by and they see the big dog get his butt whooped in two hits that are 2 seconds apart then they are likely to leave you alone and if not then repeat steps 1 and 2 until they do stop.
my two cents
