    Burned Mash Hook

Well went out to sight in my FS2000 and after firing about 60 rounds of ammo I noticed that where the MASH hook connects, near the gas selector, that the metal was discolored and that the nylon was burned through.

Where on your sight can I order another one? Or should I keep the sling in single point mode?

Edit: Nvm found the weapon adapter page. Think I'll try the HK clip weapon adapter and see if I can stop it from burning up. Any advice besides not firing so many rounds and heating the weapon up?

    Thanks!

I dont want to come off like an ass or anything, but your gun and sling were meant to be fired. you could put an all metal mash hook there, but it's gonna get discolored too. Stop worrying about discoloration of the thing and revel and take pride in the fact that your gun shows some honest wear and tear.

sounds like you broke your stuff in right and you should be proud of that, keep melting it , it aint gonna hurt nothin.

I'm not worried about "looks" tbh. I am worried about carrying my weapon with a sling that is partially melted. If I can't depend on it I need to find another solution that works.

OH CRAP!! I misunderstood you, Heck yeah if that sling is burning thru you need something else there for sure!!

You could use one of those lanyard loops like this

I have an HK hook on my sling (i made a copy of the FN factory sling) and it seems fine. I shot about 200 rounds thru it last weekend and i just looked at it and it's fine. there is some charring on the hook tho. I can see where that could be a problem tho. Maybe a protector in that area might help.

    MASH Hook

Hello, there. Is the part that burnt the polyester elastic silencer that wraps around the MASH Hook which comes standard with all of our MASH Hook adapters? If so, we suggest removing this silencer for use on the F/FS2000 while shooting due to the proximity of the weapon's gas port. I'm not particularly sure why FN placed the sling attachment point so close to the gas exhaust port.
Anyway, we test shot 420 rounds/15 magazines in 10 minutes with the sling installed as well as the polyester silencer prior to releasing this sling kit. About two magazines into the test, the silencer burst into flames to which it was easily cut off with a knife and the test continued unabated. The MASH Hook Adapter is recommended over the HK Clip Adapter due to the distance between the MIL-W-5625 tubular webbing and the weapon's sling loop. The MASH Hook acts as the heat sink which prevents the webbing from even getting hot. We had no issues at all after the 420 round test. You will have discoloration of the webbing due to the carbon fouling that is blowing out of the exhaust port. This in unavoidable and just the nature of the weapon. We do offer replacement polyester silencers on our website if you want to replace yours. But, again they are only standard with all of our MASH Hook Adapters to reduce the noise signature of any metal to metal contact on weapons with metal sling loops. The F/FS2000 kit instructions recommends removing it. If you do have any issues with your sling, we do have a 100% guarantee on our slings. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need anything.
