Screwing sling-mount stud into top or side of SLP buttstock

Has anyone done this, or thought about it: remove the sling-mount stud from the bottom of the standard SLP buttstock and then screw it back into the side of the stock or the top, or anywhere where it would be preferable to attach a sling? It seems silly to have to buy a sling buttstock adapter if we can just attach the factory swivels somewhere else on the stock.

Have you taken off the rubber recoil pad and opened up the buttstock to see if it possible? I have not opened my stock up at all. It doesn’t show what is inside the buttstock even in the SLP owners manual. There is also the socket that that the recoil spring must be inserted to as well.
