I had been testing out 165 gr. Hornady SST over Varget powder and CFE 223 earlier and not getting spectacular results... but, enjoying the my lil free time to explore load options.
47.5 gr. CFE 223
My 44- 44.5 grain Varget loads with the SSTs were more spread out and none were under 1.6" at 100 yards.
Feeling frustrated, I went on to shoot some box ammo at steel and play around at 150 and 200 yards.
I noticed more heat coming off the barrel and figured I would try the last few rounds on a hot barrel and see how it shot.
5 shots - 100 yards, HOT barrel.
This barrel was smoking hot.... some might of said too hot but, I know a lil about FN systems and wasnt afraid to shoot it.
FN has been established to have great combat proven barrels and I am lucky to have carried/ shot them during a few of my 7 combat tours thru my Army career...
I am just glad to see that kind of quality in the FNAR for the street market.
The CFE 223 looks promising.....
Now onto trying some more lighter 165 SST/ Varget combos out to see if I can get this combo to shoot MOA.
