The KME precision knife sharpening system.

Comes with a nice case and a FNH mouse pad! Just kidding : )

Here it is opened with all my crap in it. Fits everything like a glove and has a little extra space to fit extras. Which I'll go over at the end.

A picture of the front page of the manual, good illustration of the sharpening system.

    Americaaa. **** yeah!

One of my favorite things about the KME is the variety of things you can use with this system to sharpen your blades. They have everything from whetstones, Arkansas stones, kangaroo leather stropes to diamond lapping film. These are the stones that some of actually come with the sharpener, and this is how they sit in the carrier.

    Adjustable from 17°-30°

This is how it looks with a blade in it.

This knife, after being sharpened on the KME, was the sharpest knife I've ever wielded.

Some knife porn for you filthy animals : )

What sold me on the KME was the stories I heard about the owner, Ron. I heard he was the kind of guy who would answer his phone and be glad to talk to you and answer any questions you had. I exchanged many emails with him, so I know this to be true. He is also the kind of proprietor who wouldn't sell you anything you didn't need. Right before placing my order, he informed me that he didn't recommend some of the things I was trying to buy from him, simply because it was overkill for what I was trying to achieve with the sharpener. As a new customer, these things were reassuring.
Overall I would recommend this sharpener.

    Pros: simple, precise, versatile, portable
Cons: lack of guide rod stop

The guide rod issue is if your not holding the carrier, or if you go too far on your downstoke, it can slide down and the end of it can fall off the edge of your blade. Simple fix is to get a plastic furniture foot and drill a hole in it and slide it into the guide rod where it would need to be to prevent this. So it's not really a con overall.

Here's a great video of the KME in action, lots of good info here.

Hope you found this review helpful.

The universe is hostile. So impersonal. Devour to survive. So it is. So it's always been.
