I live in california and therefore I have to block the folding stock. So i bought this:

RifleGear - Stock Block, FN SCAR

the problem I am having is that the instructions are not so clear for step 1. How to I drive out the stock hinge pin? I also do not have a punch set.

If you want the quick and dirty method to pinning the stock...

1. Disassemble the stock latch
2. Get a screw and corresponding nut
(you'll have to do some measuring to get the correct length for the screw)
3. Drill a hole through the stock release button, just large enough for the screw to fit
4. Insert the nut into the inside of the button and begin threading the screw in, but not all the way
(the nut should not be able to spin freely inside, if it does, block it with something)
5. Re-assemble stock latch assembly
6. Tighten screw all the way down

Down the line, if I need a brand new stock release button, I can always just buy a replacement.

Return the block if you can. I know it's only $6, but an empty .45 casing would achieve the same thing. That's what we used to pin our HK UMP stocks.

im still having the problem with unpinning the hinge pin. i got a pin punch and a hammer. is there a certain way to go about this? i feel a set of edges going down on part of the inside. I try to angle the pin to get leverage off it, but I have no luck.

Can you ask Rifle Gear? They sold you the part, they should be able to tell you how to install it.

Also, are you on Calguns? This question may be better asked there. The SCAR owners there would probably be able to quickly help you since I'm sure they've had to do this themselves.

I've looked at my SCAR and the opening at the top of the pin is very small. If I had to guess, I'm thinking you'd need to open up the hole a bit (with a drill) so that you could fit a proper sized punch in there. Right now, all I see is a tiny amount of roll-pin, definitely not enough material to get a good hold.

The hing pin is a PITA to drive out due to the fact that you'll need to drive it out from the top down. The pin is larger that the opening at the top of the hing ( just compare the bottom opening to the top opening and you'll get the idea )the pin is also set against the bottom of the top hole like a stop, making it difficult to get onto the edge of the pin. You'll have to get the punch on the top edge of the roll pin or all you'll be doing is driving the punch down through the center of the roll pin or down the inside of it. You'll also have to drive it straight down or run the risk of damaging the channel the pin is pressed in if the punch gets driven into the side of the channel.
